The blind spot bias is so powerful that even experts on cognitive biases can't get past it in some cases. E.g., I wrote to Daniel Kahneman to point out that one of his major examples in "Thinking Fast and Slow" (http://www.amazon.com/Thinking-Fast-Slow-Daniel-Kahneman/dp/0374533555) is incorrect, and he just couldn't admit how wrong it was even though I proved it beyond any doubt.
